Congressman Albert Wynn Joins Public Policy & Law Practice
(Washington, DC)—Dickstein Shapiro LLP is pleased to announce that
Congressman Albert Wynn
(D-Md.) will join the firm’s Public Policy & Law Practice as partner, upon completion of his work in Congress. Congressman Wynn will focus his practice on legal, legislative, and regulatory counseling.
“I have known Congressman Wynn since our days in law school together, and I am delighted that he is joining Dickstein Shapiro,” said Michael Nannes, Dickstein Shapiro’s Chairman. “The Congressman has led a very distinguished career in public service, and spent 10 years at the helm of his own law firm. His knowledge of the law, the government, and the public policy process is an invaluable asset to our clients and our practice.”
“I look forward to returning to the legal community and am excited by the opportunity to pursue new challenges,” said U.S. Representative Wynn. “Dickstein Shapiro is a natural fit for me as it is nationally recognized not only for its legal work, but also for the priority it places on diversity and the quality of life of its employees. At Dickstein Shapiro, I also join a number of my law school classmates and former Maryland U.S. Senator Joseph Tydings, and am proud to now be able to call them colleagues.”
Congressman Wynn’s career spans more than 25 years as an elected official, including 16 as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, in which he represented Maryland’s fourth congressional district, including portions of Prince George’s County and Montgomery County. He serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, as Chairman of its Subcommittee on Environment and Hazardous Materials, and as a member of the Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality. He also is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Wireless Caucus, and the Congressional Hydrogen Fuel Cell Caucus, among others. Concurrent with his early years in public service, Congressman Wynn founded and directed his own law firm for a decade. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, and his B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was a distinguished member of the debate team. He also studied public administration at Howard University.
The Government Law & Strategy Group at Dickstein Shapiro is dedicated to providing clients with skilled, focused, and cost-effective advocacy in the councils of both federal and state government. Increasingly, this demands the ready combination of substantive and political resources and a close coordination of government representation with regulatory and administrative counseling. The members of the Government Law & Strategy Group possess the wide range of professional and legal capabilities demanded for effective representation.
