(Washington, DC)—Steven J. Roman, a partner with Dickstein Shapiro LLP, has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America. The induction ceremony at which Mr. Roman became a Fellow took place recently during the 2009 annual meeting of the College in Boston, Massachusetts.

Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Attorneys must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship.

“The firm is very proud of Steve’s election to the College. With his many years of trial experience and excellent reputation as a litigator, it is fitting that he be selected to join this elite group of attorneys,” said Michael Nannes, Dickstein Shapiro LLP’s Chairman.

His work focuses on government investigations, corporate compliance and internal reviews, white collar defense, and complex civil litigation. As part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, on which he served for two years as the lead prosecutor, Mr. Roman’s responsibilities included participation in long-term federal and task force investigations, which frequently used court authorized electronic surveillance, and the prosecution and trial of Continuing Criminal Enterprise, RICO, and related offenses.

Mr. Roman is the recipient of six U.S. Attorney’s Office Special Achievement Awards and has been a speaker at Department of Justice Office of Legal Education seminars throughout the country.
