Michael Nannes has served as Chairman of Dickstein Shapiro since 2004 and as Deputy Managing Partner for 10 years before that. Mr. Nannes provides leadership and strategic direction for the firm’s legal practice and business objectives. He oversees all aspects of the firm’s operations, working closely with five department officers—Finance, Operations, Marketing, Human Resources, and Information Systems. Under his leadership, the firm has established offices in California (Los Angeles and Irvine), has substantially grown its New York office, and has received recognition for its diversity and quality of life programs in numerous high-profile business and trade publications.

Mr. Nannes serves on the Board of Trustees of the Legal Aid Society. In 2008, he co-chaired the Society’s 19th Annual Servant of Justice Dinner. Mr. Nannes also is on the Board of Directors of the Duke Ellington Fund. He is a member of the Advisory Council of the Project for Attorney Retention, which works to stem unwanted attrition among lawyers by promoting work/life balance and the advancement of women in the legal profession.
In 2006, Mr. Nannes became a founding committee member of Georgetown University Law Center’s Law Firm Senior Management Legal Ethics Roundtable. This program promotes regular discussion of legal ethics issues pertinent to leading law firms, with membership comprised of Managing Partners and General Counsel from leading Washington, DC law firms and faculty from Georgetown University Law Center.
