Managing Intellectual Property IP Handbook: IP Stars. In April 2013, Managing Intellectual Property named several Dickstein Shapiro IP attorneys to its first-annual IP Stars guide. Robert Dickerson, Deborah Fishman, Jon Grossman, Gary Hoffman, and Jeffrey Sherwood were selected to appear in the guide, which highlights the world’s leading IP practitioners.

Benchmark Litigation. In February 2013, Dickstein Shapiro was named District of Columbia Firm of the Year and West Insurance Firm of the Year in the inaugural Benchmark Litigation awards, which recognize litigation excellence in several practice areas and in regions across the country.

Southern California Super Lawyers. In the 2013 edition of Southern California Super Lawyers, several attorneys in Dickstein Shapiro’s Los Angeles and Orange County offices were recognized, including Kirk Pasich, Stephen Goldberg, and Sandra Thayer in the Insurance Coverage category; James Turken in the Business Litigation category; Robert Dickerson and Yasser El-Gamal in the Intellectual Property category; and Arthur Silbergeld in the Employment Litigation category. In the 2013 edition of Benchmark Litigation, Dickstein Shapiro was ranked nationally for insurance coverage and intellectual property. It was also “recommended” for litigation in Washington, DC. Human Rights Campaign Foundation 2013 Corporate Equality Index. In November 2012, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation named Dickstein Shapiro among the best places to work in the United States for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender professionals. The firm received the Corporate Equality Index rating of 100 percent for the fifth time.

Benchmark Plaintiff: The Definitive Guide to America’s Leading Plaintiff Litigation Firms and Attorneys. In the 2013 edition of Benchmark Plaintiff, Dickstein Shapiro was ranked nationally for antitrust, insurance coverage, and intellectual property. It was also “highly recommended” for litigation in California and Washington, DC. Vault. In August 2012, Vault recognized Dickstein Shapiro’s summer associate program as the fifth Best Overall Summer Associate program in the nation. Survey respondents—first through third year associates who worked as summer associates at their current firms—were asked to rate how well the summer program had prepared them for practice. Dickstein Shapiro ranks sixth on the list of firms that best prepare summer associates for practice.

2012 International Legal Alliance Summit. Dickstein Shapiro was recognized with the Rising Star Award in the categories of “Best USA Law Firm: Project Finance, Infrastructure, & Energy” at the June 202 International Legal Alliance Summit and Awards. The firm was recognized by a 120-member jury panel composed entirely of active general counsels.

IAM Patent 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners. In June 2012, IAM Patent 1000 recognized Dickstein Shapiro’s Intellectual Property Practice in its first-annual magazine highlighting the world’s leading patent practitioners. In the 2012 edition of Legal 500: The Clients Guide to the US Legal Profession, several of the firm’s practice areas and attorneys are recognized. WTR 1000. In June 2012, WTR 1000, a guide to the world’s top trademark practices, ranked Dickstein Shapiro in the New York and Washington, DC markets. The firm was placed in Band 3 in New York and Washington. The following Dickstein Shapiro IP Partners were also ranked: Clark Lackert (New York, Band 2 Enforcement and Litigation, and Band 2 Prosecution and Strategy) and Keith Sharkin (New York, Band 3 Enforcement and Litigation).

Chambers Global Guide. Dickstein Shapiro was profiled in the 2012 Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business in the Energy: Electricity category. Partner Larry Eisenstat was listed as a leading attorney in the guide’s Energy category.

Lawyers USA Top 10 Jury Verdicts of 2011. In January 2012, Lawyers USA recognized the firm’s patent infringement case Saffran, M.D., Ph.D. v. Johnson & Johnson as the single largest jury verdict of 2011. Partner Paul Taskier was also named one of the top five lawyers for 2011 for his work on the case.

Law360 Practice Groups Of the Year. In January 2012, Dickstein Shapiro’s Insurance Coverage Practice was again named among the top five insurance practice groups in the United States by Law360. The practice was selected for its continued “dominance of the policyholder bar.”
