Emergency Daycare and Back-Up Nanny Care Programs
Dickstein Shapiro provides “emergency daycare” on a subsidized basis for children of attorneys and staff at Huckleberry Cheesecake in Washington, DC and at Bright Horizons in New York. If a parent has a problem with the usual daycare, the parent can bring the child to a reserved “Dickstein Shapiro” spot at the childcare center. Both centers are located close to the respective offices and are open during the firm’s business hours.
Realizing that different parents have different needs, the firm implemented what is believed to be the first back-up nanny care program in Washington, DC, through White House Nannies. In 2004, the firm added this service in the New York office through A Choice Nanny and in 2008, the firm added this service in the LA office through Westside Nannies, Inc. The program is designed for parents with children who are too old for a daycare setting, or for parents whose children are ill and unable to attend their normal daycare program. The firm pays the fee to register in the program, as well as all referral fees. The firm also will partially subsidize attorneys and staff for the hourly fee paid to the caregivers, to make the program affordable for everyone.
